Based on the 7 directions of various Indigenous cultures, Maddi Cheers leads you through a series of easy to do contemporary and ancient dance movements to discover your own physical power and spiritual grace. Connect with other women and celebrate and express your own sense of the Divine Feminine.

The benefits of this workshop include:

Reducing stress

Restoring balance

Re-energizing

Re-awakening to your own movement style

You don't have to be a dancer to dance divinely!

"Maddi's dance workshop creates a way to have fun while finding balance. With every step I felt more physically relaxed and mentally aware. The music and meaning behind the songs gave me the freedom to let my imagination soar. I recommend this workshop to women who want to have fun and feel more connected to their joyful self."
- Silvia A.

"I was able to express my soul in movement and was easily transported into different cultures and time through Maddi's teachings"
- Lenora D.

Maddi Cheers has been teaching dance, fitness and theatre for over 40 years and she has been a spiritual seeker for far longer! Along with her work as a storyteller and instructor for Journeys Into American Indian Territory she is an intuitive ceremonialist and poet. She is certified in Radiant Child Yoga and Laughing Yoga. Long ago in a land far far away Maddi was a soloist with The American Contemporary Dance Company. She holds a B.S. in Theatre Arts from Towson State University, however, most of her experience and teachings come from the various elders she has met and making it through 63 years of life!

Journey to Mother India

Journey to Mother India

We are beginning to assemble our tribe and already I perceive the rightness and knowingness of our group.  Each year, I am astounded by the breakthroughs and connections that are birthed on our journey. The themes that emerge are around resolution, embodiment, creativity and action.  I am envisioning a joyful energy of celebration woven through our inner and group expansion and growth. I am delighted to introduce my dear friend and collaborator, Swaranpal Kaur, who will be co-facilitating this deep dive into India with me this year.  Swaranpal is the real deal, a dedicated teacher and healer who holds beautiful space with solid integrity.  I have had the pleasure of visiting India countless times and feel uniquely positioned to support you in this life-affirming opportunity. Our friendship and collaboration is a richly nutritive source of meaning and joy in our lives, and together we will weave with you a profoundly healing journey to Mother India.

dca3d657-918e-4902-8328-ae3bf1fd8ac9.png

We will spend 8 days practicing Kundalini yoga and meditation as well as engaging in ceremony and ritual designed to enliven your mind, soul and body. We will stay at beautiful and upscale heritage properties, eat lovely food, engage in genuine cultural exchanges and offer seva as well.  Our team includes long-treasured local friends and offers you a view of glorious India from inside a sacred web of authenticity.

987ca707-b82c-427f-9b4a-7325c4271620.png

Our trip is scheduled from March 5-13 and is $3,800. We will spend 5 devotional days and nights in a magical Rajasthani fort, two nights in Jaipur and a final night in Amritsar, home of the Golden Temple.  All intra-India transportation is included (not your flight from the US), every meal (except a handful during free time), local guidance and heritage tours, home visits, ashram visits, twice daily yoga and mediation and dedicated support through the process.  Prices are subject to a modest adjustment based on price of internal flight and hotel expenses which are subject to some variability, prices and itinerary details will be formalized prior to October 4th. Based on feedback, we have included more in the price this year for your ease and convenience.  This is not a low-budget ashram yoga trip, but a comfortable and well curated journey centered on offering you a sacred opportunity to fully embrace this moment in your life, to retreat from the daily and expand into a greater consciousness and fullness.

Our goal is to offer you the highest level experience available and we are both fully committed to collaborate with you on this shared goal.  All rooms are double occupancy.  We offer a discount to alumni of our past trips and to couples or groups of friends traveling together, both men and women are welcome and people with all levels of practice will be engaged and welcomed with love. We have limited space on this trip, so ask that you heed the call before too much time elapses. We require a 1,000 Deposit by November 10th to reserve your space.

- TESTIMONIALS -
"If you are reading this, it may be because it is time. Time to answer the call to Mother India. An unparalleled vortex of spirituality, India teaches you on the level of felt experience. The expansion that I experienced while on this adventure is forever known to my soul and the artful balance of planning, ritual, and also nurturance and freedom that was provided on this trip was essential to cultivating this shift. Luisa is an alchemist and this was exactly the life potion I needed."
-Kelly Brogan MD

"I had the incredible pleasure of joining Luisa Harsevak Kaur's Kundalini Circle on an unforgettable journey to India in March 2016.  The experience was undeniably one of my most memorable and transformative thus far.  Harsevak has the incredible gift of teaching for she embodies such joy, such love, you can actually FEEL what she says, as if she were spinning silk with her words, a soft blanket for us to rest upon. Throughout our journey, Harsevak created an environment of love, healing, peace, and openness which helped spark a curiosity to look inward and to deeply feel the transformation that was possible during our time together.  Her wisdom and inner light guided our path towards ourselves and one another in a way I could never have imagined possible.  To practice Kundalini Yoga in India and have Harsevak as our guide on all things spiritual and cultural was a gift unparalleled.  I treasured the experience of seeing India through Harsevak's eyes and simultaneously had the opportunity to develop my own relationship with this incredible country.  The culmination of our journey from Dehli to Neemrana, to Jaipur and then finally the Golden Temple in Amritsar is hard to describe with words.  At the Golden Temple, I felt a new type of love blossom from within and could see and feel that love in the eyes of all those who around me.  Our practice together leading up to our arrival in Amritsar prepared me for the gentle opening I felt in my heart that day and continue to feel today." I am new to Kundalini and felt immediately embraced by the simple yet deeply profound beauty in the practice.  My life, my heart, my soul has forever been touched by this experience with Harsevak Kaur and the circle of women who journeyed together.  What a gift it has been to feel the seeds of love, peace, and wisdom planted during the trip now blossom in my life at home with my family, my friends, my community.  I hope to take this journey with Harsevak Kaur again and for many years to come."

Confronting Challenge: A Workshop for Men

Confronting Challenge: A Workshop for Men

To live a spiritually rich life as men does not mean that we have to be passive pushovers.  We can be in command of our lives.  Even while we’re in the thick of challenge, stressful situations, or around pain and suffering (our own or others), we can develop a more spacious point of view.  When circumstance calls for ferocity, we can train ourselves to act from our depths, a place of compassionate authenticity.

In this workshop, you will learn practical ways to:

  • Cultivate a relaxed and focused baseline
  • Expand your comfort zone
  • Stay in your center when challenged
  • Respond with flexibility, based on context
  • Relinquish being “right” and show up to meet what’s right in front of you NOW

Aaron Angel practices and teaches karma yoga, the yoga of action, which stresses the value of practicing awareness in all of your life circumstances and relationships.  With the goal of expanding his comfort zone (and under the guidance of the teachings of Ram Dass), Aaron has been volunteering with hospice patients through MJHS, and taught yoga at the in-patient psychiatric unit at NYU Lutheran Medical Center for the past year and a half.  Aaron has had the privilege to volunteer at Sloan Kettering, working with pediatric cancer patients, to teach yoga in a juvenile detention center in the Bronx, and to work at an independent home for developmentally disabled (Bais Ezra).  He lives with his radiant wife Keely, beautiful daughter Jaya, and frisky cat Meows.

New Moon Community Acupuncture & Gong Bath

Come join Carla & Amanbir for a special gathering on the day of the new moon.   Proceeds from this event will go towards the Medical Outreach in Uganda, East Africa.   This is to offer free medical check-ups, consultations, minor and major surgical operations, health education and medicines to thousands of impoverished Ugandans who have limited access to health care facilities and specialized care due to lack of funds and being too far away from any medical facilities.

We will begin with a light kundalini Kriya to open the channels followed by a meditation to tap into the depths of the Scorpio New Moon.  This will be followed by a hour gong.  Kundalini acupuncture sessions will be offered during the gong bath and will last approximately 30 minutes per participant.

Kundalini Acupuncture uses the elements of sacred geometry and Taoist principles to raise consciousness.  In higher consciousness, there is a greater capacity to heal ourselves.

Sound Healing With Jarrod

Sound Healing With Jarrod

The Mysticism and Philosophy of Creating Shuniya:  Sound as a Tool for Self-Actualization

With Jarrod Byrne Mayer and Melody Balczon

Sound is a gateway to shuinya, the deep silence within. It is the void beyond duality which brings our outer world into greater bliss and harmony.  Sound healing has very little to do with actually creating sounds…but rather it is about cultivating a deep inner silence which can transfer through the tool being played.

With the gift of Kundalini Yoga we can experience these deeper states of the self.  Only when we experience silence, can we give the experience of silence.

These four days will be a mixture of the teachings from the gong and tuning forks, which includes channeled meditations, control of Chi, and movements.  We will also practice Kundalini Yoga and mediations to deepen the experience.

We will also go over other sound healing tools and modalities.  Tuning forks and singing bowls will be available for purchase. If someone would like to purchase a gong prior to the training please email Jarrod@BrooklynHealingArts.com and we be able to help.

Jarrod Byrne Mayer and Melody Balczon are both certified Kundalini Yoga teachers who studied with Gurmuhk Kaur Khalsa and Gurushabd Singh Khalsa.  Jarrod is a sonotherapist who has studied with Gong Master Don Connreux, tuning fork master Dr. John Beauliu, and Sage Healing Arts founders Phillipe and Lea Garnier. Melody is Reiki Two certified having studied with Maha Rose founder Lisa Levine.  Both Melody and Jarrod have also studied with survival master Tom Brown Jr. in the ancient Apache Scout tradition.

Jarrod Byrne Mayer and Melody Balczon bring a practical application of yogic and sound technologies so it can be fully integrated within your daily life.  They have been married for 9 years and currently reside in Greenpoint, Brooklyn with their two cats.  Together they launched “Brooklyn Healing Arts,” specializing in modern-archaic healing modalities.  They like hugs, ice cream, and good times.  www.BrooklynHealingArts.com

Like the North American sweat lodge, it utilizes heat in a sacred purification ceremony. Unlike the North American sweat, it is therapeutic, and is all about individual healing. It utilizes aromatherapy through the use of medicinal plants and flowers. In the ceremony there is an opportunity to re-connect the mind-body-spirit through the release of negative emotions. In the process, the temazcal helps to eliminate disease and generates a sense of calm and wellbeing.

Gyrokinesis is movement method based on Yoga (especially kundalini and hatha), dance, tai-chi, gymnastic, swimming. It is one of most intelligent and efficient movement method that I know, which is very healing.  Gyrokinesis has been in the program of major professional dance school or athletes, but also has been taught as physical therapy or gentle exercise classes for the elderly. I myself started to practice this method after major knee surgery and helped me to go back to the stage. It promotes the better sense of connection to your body, improve flexibility, strengthen major muscles, and stimulate whole entire body for better circulation of energy.

The Blockbuster: Breaking through Karmic Squares

With Guru Dharam

The greatest challenges in your life are caused by Karmic squares which exert a controlling influence on your circumstances.

These squares are created by the Samskaric residues from the previous lives which are your personal karmic narrative and which now form the features of both your inner and outer lives. Spiritual practice is a directed accelerant of your personal process to move through obstacles while cultivating the pure potential of Emptiness.
Kundalini Shakti shows us how to use the momentum of the moment to break the lock of karma using the power of your Creative and Projective force.

Clear blocks known and unknown from your energy field. Then harmony, tranquility and what the ancients called 'Gods Speed' can prevail in your life.
A Kundalini Shakti presentation with Guru Dharam.

$45 exchange (for those not enrolled in the current Teacher Training being held at Westways / for those currently enrolled in TT, this workshop is included in your tuition and you need not register).

Limit of 10, preregistration is a must.

Kundalini Rebirth: Medicine for the Soul

Master Class with Guru Dharam

When we generate more Karma in our life narrative than we can effectively neutralize with Dharmic activity, the collective weight of parental projection, our restrictive attitudes of self-limitation and our samskaric load create a gravitational pull that constricts our capacity to accomplish our Destiny mission and excel.  The Rebirthing Kriyas give us a methodology for core transformation and the momentum to break through the cocoon that holds us.  Experience the source of psycho-spiritual intervention that demonstrates the wisdom of the Rishis and their sublime understanding of Kundalini Medicine.

$45 exchange (for those not enrolled in the current Teacher Training being held at Westways / for those currently enrolled in TT, this workshop is included in your tuition and you need not register).

Limit of 10, preregistration is a must.

Blue Deer Drums - Drum Making Ceremony

The drum is a sacred tool that has been used by many cultures from around the world to connect us to our heart, the earth, the cosmos, and spirit.  It is considered to be a medicine in itself which has the ability to help us heal ourselves and others by bringing the body and spirit into its natural rhythm.  The beat of the drum has the power to bring people into deep states of meditation and is used often in shamanic journey work.

During the course of this ceremony you will create your own drum from start to finish.  Through focused intention and prayer we will paint our frames and tie our drums.  We will share songs and learn how to use and take care of the drum during the course of this gathering.  At the end you will have a beautiful instrument that will be a companion on your spiritual path for years to come.

This workshop will be lead by Matt Canale, founder of Blue Deer Drums, and members of the Golden Drum community.  Participants can choose between 16 or 18 inch maple drum frames and select from Deer, Buffalo or Elk skin.

Registration and Payment of $300 is due by October 7.

***Please Bring a Vegetarian Dish to share for our lunch break and plenty of snacks to keep you satisfied throughout the day.
